Superintendent Jeffrey Kuhns has announced his resignation from the West Perry School District, a decision that will take effect Jan. 8, 2026.

The announcement came during the Oct. 20 meeting of the district’s Board of School Directors, where members also approved a bond resolution tied to ongoing discussions about whether to repair or consolidate the district’s aging elementary schools.

Kuhns, who has served as superintendent since 2022, described the decision as difficult but deliberate. In a written statement, he said that after the board tabled an extension to his contract in July and later presented a counteroffer he declined, he informed board leadership he would no longer seek an extension.
