HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii reached a grim milestone this week.
The Hawaii Department of Transportation said as of Oct. 24, 2025, 106 people have died on Hawaii roads, which exceeds the 102 total traffic fatalities recorded in 2024.
According to state data from the past 20 years, 2006 had the most traffic deaths with 161.
Officials said this year’s fatalities were a combination of motor vehicle occupants, pedestrians, motorcyclists, scooter riders, bicyclists and people on non-traditional conveyances like skateboards, foot scooters and utility task vehicles.
