DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A federal worker living in Duluth says she’s feeling like “a puppet” as the ongoing government shutdown continues to impact her livelihood.

Friday marked the 24th day of the federal government shutdown and the first day furloughed federal workers did not receive a paycheck, including a woman from Duluth.

The employee, who agreed to the interview on anonymity, works for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She said she’s frustrated with how long the stalemate has lasted.

“I definitely feel like a puppet,” she said. “The federal workers are kind of getting the short end of the stick.”

Since being furloughed, she’s found two part-time jobs just to cover basic expenses.
