California met Jefferson-Morgan on Friday night with the Tri-County South Conference championship on the line.
The hype featuring conference heavyweights didn’t disappoint, with the visiting Trojans (9-1, 7-0) coming away with a hard-fought 36-14 victory at Jefferson-Morgan (8-2, 5-2) to dethrone the defending champion Rockets. The game was close until the final quarter when the Trojans took control.
It’s a reversal of last season, when Jefferson-Morgan prevailed in its showdown for the title, handing California its only conference defeat in 2024.
Malachi Peak led California with four touchdown runs of 15, 10, 9 and 4 yards. Deakyn Dehoet led Jefferson-Morgan with a 54-yard touchdown run. Dehoet finished with 84 yards on the ground on 10 carries.
