ROOTSTOWN, Ohio — The Kirtland Hornets capped off another perfect season Friday night with a dominant 42-7 victory over Rootstown, securing head coach Tiger LaVerde’s 14th undefeated campaign at the helm.

Kirtland seized control early and never relinquished it, building a commanding 28-0 halftime advantage before cruising to the win.

The victory improved Kirtland’s record to a perfect 10-0 (4-0 in conference play), while Rootstown fell to 6-4 (1-3). The Hornets head to the OHSAA Division VI playoffs as the top seed in Region 21. Rootstown waits for computer ratings to become final to see if they can sneak into the playoffs with the 12th and final seed in the region.
