UK workers have received an urgent warning as a major tax alteration is due to come into force next year. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has cautioned that "tax is changing" in April 2026.

This modification will affect self-employed individuals and landlords earning more than £50,000 per year. They will need to provide online updates every three months rather than gathering everything together at tax return time.

In a message on social media platform X, HMRC reminded people about the forthcoming change, declaring: "Tax is changing. From April 2026, you will need to send quarterly updates using HMRC recognised software if you have turnover above £50,000 from self-employment or property. Get ahead and sign up today."
