Catherine Connolly looks set for Áras as voter turnout low

Catherine Connolly is likely to be elected Ireland’s 10th president after a poor turnout yesterday that political sources accepted was bad news for Heather Humphreys.

The winner will replace Michael D Higgins, who has served the maximum two terms in office.
