A significant transformation is approaching for British passports issued from December this year, heralding a "new era" in the first redesign since 2020.

Starting from December 2025, all newly issued British passports will display King Charles' Coat of Arms as part of an updated design.

The four nations of the UK will be showcased through imagery of four UNESCO-protected natural landscapes – Ben Nevis, the Lake District, Three Cliffs Bay, and the Giant's Causeway.

The new document is also set to become the most secure British passport ever created, featuring cutting-edge anti-forgery technology including holographic and translucent elements, making passports simpler to authenticate and considerably more difficult to counterfeit or alter.
