Two men with links to Leicestershire have absconded from an open prison. Filipe Smith, 30, and Patrick Gavin, absconded from Sudbury Prison, a category D prison in Ashbourne near Derbyshire, yesterday (24 October) at 6.10pm, police said.
Derbyshire Constabulary said that Smith, who has links to the Coalville area, is currently serving a six-year and six-month prison sentence. He was convicted of class A drug importation in Guernsey earlier this year.
Gavin is currently serving a five-year and one-month sentence for causing grievous bodily harm with intent in 2020. He has links to the Market Harborough area, police said.
