UPDATE (9:26) - The Roanoke Police Department has announced that the intersection of Orange Avenue and Plantation Road Northeast has been reopened for traffic.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) - The Roanoke Police Department (RPD) is investigating a deadly crash that has shut down the intersection of Orange Avenue and Plantation Road Northeast.

Officials say the crash involved eight vehicles. One person reportedly died at a local hospital, and another was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to RPD, the intersection is currently closed while the investigation continues. Traffic is being rerouted north on Plantation Road and south on Kimball Avenue.
