Thousands of people marched the streets in Taipei City on Saturday for the 2025 Taiwan LGBTQ+ Pride, with many expressing their opposition to the U.S. President's gender binarism.
Since returning to office, the Trump administration has rolled back protections for transgender Americans, including reinstating a military ban and issuing executive orders targeting LGBTQ rights.
Lai Po-han, an insurance company owner and pride participant said he was "aware that there was increasing conservative voices in these past years."
"But we hope that more people find out that love, freedom and equality are the values pursued by homosexual and gender minority peoples,” he added.
Rosa McCaanon, a British national traveling in Taiwan, said, “I think Donald Trump is a terrible person on every level, and I am very glad to not be living in the U.S. because I think he is making the world going backwards.”
An estimated total of 130,000 people took part in Taiwan's 23rd LGBTQ+ parade under the autumn rain.
