NEW CANAAN, Conn. (WFSB) - An investigation is underway after a man is accused of killing his mother on Friday night.

At around 10:36 p.m. officers were called to the area of South Avenue and Gerdes Road after a report of a man’s voice yelling from the woods, the police department said.

As crews were responding, they received a 911 call from a man who said he killed his mother.

When police arrived, they were able to identify the suspect as Sebastian Van Stockum.

First responders tried to provide aid to the victim, but the individual died on scene.

Van Stockum was placed in custody and is facing a murder charge.

He is being held on a $2 million bond.

New Canaan Police along with Connecticut State Police are investigating this incident.

Officials said there is no danger to the public
