A senior Home Department official in Agartala recently said that over 400 Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel would be deployed in the Bihar Assembly polls.
The jawans, led by commandant Jyotishman Daschoudhuri, headed for Patna on Friday night by a special train. They are expected to reach the Bihar capital by Sunday night or Monday morning.
“The Election Commission would consult the nodal security officers and decide where the TSR personnel would be deployed. They would be deployed to maintain security in both phases of polling,” said the official.
The Assembly polls in Bihar will be held in two phases – November 6 and 11, with the counting scheduled for November 14.
During the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, TSR personnel were deployed in Bihar, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra.
