A police-involved shooting is under investigation on Interstate 84 West in Manchester after police said a vehicle fled a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

A Manchester officer on routine patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 300 block of Center Street around 1:42 a.m.

Police said the driver initially stopped but then fled from the traffic stop and headed toward I-84 West. As the vehicle approached the highway, officers deployed stop sticks, which authorities said successfully slowed the vehicle, but the suspect continued westbound on the highway.

While on the highway, police said the suspect began shooting at pursuing officers. A Manchester police officer returned fire and hit the suspect's vehicle
