It’s hard to imagine anyone not walking away impressed after an encounter with Yankees hitting coach James Rowson.

He’s friendly, engaging and intelligent.

Very intelligent.

Talk hitting with Rowson and you’ll quickly realize this guy really, really knows his stuff.

Considering all that, it’s not surprising that the Twins were wowed last week when Rowson interviewed for their vacant managerial position.

Rowson is one of four finalists to succeed Rocco Baldelli, The Athletic reported on Friday night. The other contenders are Cubs bench coach Ryan Flaherty, former Mariners manager Scott Servais and ex-Pirates skipper Derek Shelton.

Rowson, 49, was the Twins hitting coach from 2017-19 and in 2018 interviewed for the manager opening, which was filled by Baldelli.
