Somerset resident Lola Lonesky recently began to ride a horse with a very unique past in the form of Cooley Quicksilver, aka “Monster,” an Irish Sport Horse, in July of this year. Monster, a former top mount for U.S. Eventing Team athlete and Olympian Liz Halliday, found his way to Lonesky after Halliday suffered a traumatic brain injury. Monster has helped her feel more confident in certain areas of competition, such as cross-country.

“I’ve never really been able to have fun on cross-country, but with him I’ve learned that we can gallop away from a fence. I actually get to flow to the fences and have fun doing it. It’s such an incredible feeling that I’ve never really had before meeting monster,” she explained in an interview with U.S. Equestrian.
