LONG BEACH – A man was shot to death Saturday morning in Long Beach, authorities said.
Officers dispatched to a shooting call at about 1:40 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of La Verne Avenue located a man dead at the scene, said Allison Gallagher, spokeswoman for the Long Beach Police Department.
“Homicide detectives responded to the scene,” Gallagher said. “The LBPD will have an increased police presence in the area through the weekend to engage with businesses and residents.”
No further information was immediately available.
Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson has not addressed the near-daily fatal shootings and stabbings as the City prepares to host some events for the 2028 Olympics.
