After nearly two decades in internal medicine, Paul Schmidt decided it was time to help patients take control of their health before problems arise.
Schmidt, a physician assistant and Navy Reserve veteran originally from Mesa, opened Body Vitality in Gilbert’s SanTan Village mall in September with a goal of shifting the focus to prevention and long-term wellness.
“I want to be more proactive than reactive,” Schmidt said. “So much of internal medicine and so much of the patients that we take care of, it’s reactive medicine. Someone comes in and you’re already seeing them when they’re a Type 2 diabetic, or you’re already seeing them after they have a heart attack.”
