PITTSBURGH — Police are investigating after the body of an infant was found in a vehicle trunk on Pittsburgh’s North Side Friday night, according to the Pittsburgh Safety Department.
Pittsburgh police said officers from Zone 1 were notified around 8:20 p.m. by Ohio Township police that a woman from that borough had arrived at a Pittsburgh hospital after giving birth but did not have a baby with her. Officials said the woman left the hospital against medical advice.
When officers questioned her about the baby’s whereabouts, Ohio Township police were led to a vehicle parked in the 1400 block of Federal Street. Inside the trunk, they found the body of an infant wrapped in clothing and placed in a plastic bag, police said. Medics pronounced the baby dead at the scene.
