TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — PetSmart Charities brought in local shelters to help get their animals adopted, as National Pet Adoption Week wraps up.

PetSmart was bustling with people hoping to find the perfect pet to take home. Local shelters said they were immediately busy as soon as they opened and it might have even been the busiest, they've ever seen.

Participating shelters were Parke-Vermillion County Humane Society, Happy Tails Rescue, and Dog It Dig It Rescue. All pets were spayed, neutered, up to date on shots, and ready to find their forever home.

Jeff and maria sellers adopted their dog from this event 8 months ago and said they love their fury friend Mitus. Maria even volunteered with Dog It Dig It, for the adoption event.
