PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - An argument ensued between prosecution and defense attorneys on the fifth day of former Sangamon County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Grayson’s trial over the expected testimony of a use of force and police practices witness.

Seth Stoughton, a law professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law, has been called as an expert witness around 150 times, including during criminal trials. He was asked to help with the Grayson/Massey case to review the former deputy’s use of force - by watching body camera footage and reviewing police reports, interviews, and State Police Reports.

Stoughton said in this case, he was looking at whether Grayson’s actions were consistent with generally accepted practices at the time of the incident.
