COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced Saturday that it has barred Ironton High School from participating in this year's football playoffs due to numerous recruiting violations over the last seven years.

According to a release from the association, OHSAA discovered the violations during the last several weeks and notified administrators and the coaching staff at Ironton.

Ironton was 8-1 heading into its final game of the regular season Friday night. The release says Ironton allowed an ineligible student-athlete to participate in that game, which results in a forfeiture. In the final computer ratings on Sunday, Ironton will be placed at the bottom of Region 19 in Division V.
