SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

A pedestrian was fatally hit by cars Saturday morning in south Sacramento, officials said.

Emergency medical services were dispatched just after 5 a.m. to Florin Road and 24th Street in the Meadowview neighborhood, the Sacramento Police Department said.

Evidence indicates that at least two vehicles may have struck the pedestrian, with both leaving the scene before officers arrived, the police department said.

It was unclear what caused the crash and the pedestrian's identity has not been released to the public at this time. A police investigation is underway. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the police department at 916-808-5471.
