Investigators serving a search warrant in Southern California in relation to the deadly July Esparto fireworks explosion uncovered a cache of explosives, prompting an evacuation of the neighborhood and a nearby school, according to officials from Yolo County and the California State Fire Marshal's Office.

On Monday morning, Cal Fire said investigators executed a search warrant in connection with the Esparto investigation in East Los Angeles.

There, officials said investigators found "several items" that required assistance from the bomb squad and fire hazmat teams.

Cal Fire said that due to the discovery of explosives within 1,000 feet of a school, that school was evacuated as a precautionary measure.
