PBS Masterpiece has officially given me a reason to subscribe with its upcoming release of The Count of Monte Cristo . Based on Alexandre Dumas' classic novel, this TV adaptation premiered in Europe in 2024. It was nearly impossible to get a hold of in the US, but that's all going to change in March 2026.

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas was initially published in 1846 as Le Comte de Monte-Cristo , and remains a classic to this day. The story follows Edmond Dantès, a young first mate set to be married, until he is falsely accused and imprisoned for treason. With the help of fellow prisoner Abbé Faria, Edmond begins an adventure that includes a daring escape, hidden treasure, and, most deliciously, revenge.
