Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer did not mince words after the Sooners’ 34–26 loss to Ole Miss. The sophomore signal caller said the defeat came down to missed opportunities and his own execution, especially in the red zone.
“You can’t miss opportunities when they’re there,” Mateer said. “I had a lot of misreads. The guys played well, but I didn’t take advantage of all the opportunities. One for three in the red zone for touchdowns, you have to score in the red zone in this league.”
