But what really made Drayton sick to his stomach was the way the Bulldogs started the game against their in-state rival.
Furman quarterback Trey Hedden threw for 211 yards and running back Jayquan Smith scored two touchdowns to lead the Paladins past The Citadel 24-14 before a homecoming crowd of 10,017 at Paladin Stadium on Oct. 25.
The Bulldogs (3-5, 2-3 Southern Conference) trailed 9-0 at halftime, but quarterback Quentin Hayes came off the bench to toss two third quarter TD passes to give The Citadel a 14-9 advantage midway through the third quarter but could not extend the lead.
