Homestead freshman Joe Garrean swept Bishop Chatard sophomore Casey Beckmann 6-4, 6-4 Saturday in the singles state championship at Park Tudor in Indianapolis.

In the semifinals, Garrean swept Castle's Henry Trapp 6-2, 6-1. In the quarterfinals Friday, Trapp defeated East Noble's Ettore Bona, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.

Last week, the Homestead, back in the state title match for the first time since 2006, had its season end with a 3-2 loss to No. 1 Carmel (25-0) at North Central High School as the Greyhounds earned their 16th state championship.
