Fresh off snapping their losing streak, the Toronto Maple Leafs are hoping for more good fortune concerning one of their stars.

Forward William Nylander is dealing with a lower-body injury but is hopeful he can suit up for Tuesday’s game against the Calgary Flames, head coach Craig Berube told reporters after Saturday’s 4-3 overtime win over the Buffalo Sabres.

Nylander, despite dressing for warmups on Saturday and being listed as a game-time decision, was held out of the contest.

It was the first regular-season game Nylander had missed since April 4, 2022.

The 29-year-old suffered the initial injury on Friday. He exited with 5:51 remaining in the third period of the first half of the home-and-home against the Sabres and did not return for another shift.
