Zubeen Garg, the iconic Assamese singer, who died on September 19 in Singapore due to drowning, continues to draw immense love and devotion from fans across Assam.
His last rites were performed on September 23 in Kamarkuchi, Sonapur district, around 31 km from Guwahati, on a plot of land considered Zubeen’s ‘temple.’
In the 36 days since his last rites, 5–10 thousand visitors come daily to pay tribute, with some traveling 500–800 km to see the memorial.
Fans have offered more than thousands of letters, and perform continuous bhajans and kirtans in his honour.
