EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (First Alert 4) - A mother of two said her car was lost early Sunday morning. She said it was when a fire set to a neighboring vehicle spread to her own, leaving her family without transportation in what she said was collateral damage from a dispute that didn’t involve her.
Markeisha Allen was awakened around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday by a neighbor knocking on her door to alert her that a car parked next to hers was on fire.
“I come down here and she’s mad. She’s like someone just set this car on fire. Your car’s parked next to it. Please come and move your car,” Allen said.
By the time Allen reached her vehicle, the fire had already spread to her car.
“I ran outside, I’m shaking, I’m crying, cause I’m like my car, my car, it’s done,” Allen said.
