ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a unique free workshop was held on Saturday.
Arch Oars and the St. Louis Rowing Club held its second October rowing workshop for breast cancer survivors.
The first workshop was held on Oct. 4 with 32 participants.
“For breast cancer survivors, some people have limited mobility in their arms and rowing is really repetitive, so with people who struggle with lymphedema, this motion can be really helpful,” said Deb Small, who taught the rowing class on Saturday. “These folks mean the world to me and I want to be able to create a network for other survivors to have that same kind of support.”
The workshop organizers say their goal is to eventually establish a competitive rowing team for breast cancer survivors.
