Monroe County will be sending five teams to the state cross country finals next week.
The Bloomington South girls came away with the biggest accolades in the Evansville Regional at Angel Mounds on Saturday, Oct. 25, winning a team regional title for third year in a row and doing it in record-setting fashion while putting four runners in the top 12.
The field was led by junior Lexi Kollbaum, who broke the course 5k record with a 17:32.7 that also lowered the Panthers' all-time best time by nearly 20 seconds. It topped the 17:51.7 by Nicole Lucas in 2010 at the Brown County Semistate.
In second was Jasmine Martoglio in 17:40 and sister Aurelia was fourth in 18:01.3 with Mary Asplund 11th in 18:47.0 as four Panthers had career bests. Julianne Ho
