The pedestrian sustained injuries to her head and chest, and was transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle, as confirmed by the North East Ambulance Service .
An online video reveals a substantial emergency service presence at the scene, with numerous police and ambulance vehicles blocking the crossroads, while the road remained shut for several hours. Radar tracking indicates a police helicopter circling over the area for about half an hour at 2am.
