A woman was struck by a car in Durham, triggering a significant emergency response in the early hours of Sunday. The incident occurred around 1.30am on Sunday, in the Neville's Cross area.

The pedestrian sustained injuries to her head and chest, and was transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle, as confirmed by the North East Ambulance Service .

An online video reveals a substantial emergency service presence at the scene, with numerous police and ambulance vehicles blocking the crossroads, while the road remained shut for several hours. Radar tracking indicates a police helicopter circling over the area for about half an hour at 2am.
