The Election Commission of India will hold a press conference on Monday evening to announce a pan-India Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters’ list.
The announcement will be made at a 4.15 pm press conference which is likely to be headed by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.
While full details are yet to be released, the poll body is expected to unveil the first phase of the SIR, covering 10 to 15 states, including those scheduled for Assembly elections in 2026, according to a report in news agency PTI.
Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry are among the states set to go to the polls next year.
