Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Sunday morning in Orange County.
FHP troopers said the crash happened around 3:20 a.m. on Landstar Boulevard north of Island Cove Drive. They said a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe and a 2007 Honda CR-V were both traveling southbound when the Hyundai's driver lost control of the vehicle and struck the rear of the Honda. The Hyundai then ran off the roadway onto the median and struck a tree.
The 17-year-old Orlando boy driving the Hyundai was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. FHP said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The Honda's driver remained on the scene and was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
