FRANCONIA, N.H. —
After 45 years of operation, the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway Tram II is taking its last ride this weekend.
The tram will take its final ride on Sunday, with the last tram down at 5 p.m. Since 1980, the 80-passenger tram cars have carried more than nine million passengers to the summit of Cannon Mountain, according to the New Hampshire Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
There is a celebration on Sunday to celebrate the Tram II, with food trucks, vendors, and live music.
A third-generation tram is in the works, according to the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. Once complete, it will be the only mountain in North America to operate a third-generation aerial tram, Cannon said.
Tickets are needed to ride the tram and operating hours on Sunday ar
