METHUEN, Mass. —

One person died and a second was seriously injured early Sunday in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 495 in Methuen, Massachusetts.

Massachusetts State Police said troopers responded at 1:30 a.m. to the crash on the southbound side of the highway just north of Route 213.

Officials said a vehicle that was driving the wrong way struck a tractor-trailer head-on and caught on fire.

One driver died, and the other was taken to an area hospital to be treated for serious injuries, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation.

The victims' names have not been released.
