A coin expert has urged people to 'check their change' to see if they have one of the UK's rarest coins.

In particular, two 50 pence pieces could be worth more than £200 combined.

TikTok expert, the Coin Collecting Wizard, has explained exactly what people should look for.

He said both coins wee made within the last two decades, and were still accepted as legal tender, the Mirror reports.

While they could easily be sitting in your wallet or coin jar, they both have extremely low mintage figures, making them hard to find.

He said: "Do you have the two rarest 50ps that can be found in your change?

"Look out for the 2009 Kew Gardens and 2023 Atlantic salmon 50p coins today."
