McMaster’s football playoff run didn’t last long.
The Marauders fell behind Queen’s 17-0 in the first quarter on Saturday in Kingston and went into the half trailing 30-3 en route to a 46-10 loss in Ontario quarterfinal action.
There had been optimism in the Mac camp that a 38-4 loss to the Gaels early in the year was the result of playing their worst game of the season and that the team’s growth over the subsequent weeks would give them a shot at knocking off the nation’s eighth-ranked team.
But Queen’s put up 454 yards of offence and didn’t turn the ball over while Mac collected 203 yards, surrendered five sacks, lost two fumbles and threw four interceptions.
McMaster has not won a playoff game since claiming the 2019 Yates Cup.
