Rising country music artist Ashley Cooke has revealed she was recently diagnosed with Brugada syndrome, a rare and potentially fatal heart condition that can lead to cardiac arrest.
The 28-year-old singer shared her diagnosis with E! News amid what she described as a “crazy, crazy health year” for her family. According to the Cleveland Clinic , Brugada syndrome causes an abnormal rhythm in the heart’s lower chambers.
“It’s the kind of syndrome that nothing really affects you until it does and it’s fatal, and that’s just the way that it goes,” Cooke explained. The condition is hereditary and runs on her father’s side of the family.
