CLEVELAND, Ohio — A year after Avon broke through its state semifinal barrier a season ago and hoisted its first state championship, the Eagles find themselves in a familiar spot.
They are the team to beat in the Division II, Region 6 playoffs, a bracket they have won seven times in the last eight years. Their path through the region remains tough with undefeated Suburban League champions Wadsworth and Highland potentially in the way. Survive that, and Region 5 — which has come down to Archbishop Hoban and Walsh Jesuit the last two years — will likely have its champion looming in the state semifinals.
