COLUMBUS, Ohio — Nick Mangold , a former standout offensive lineman for Ohio State and the New York Jets, died Saturday night. He was 41.
Mangold, who died from complications of kidney disease, was a beloved figure in New York and Columbus.
Those who knew him well took to social media Sunday to share what made Mangold special.
“Nick Mangold was everything you could wish for as a teammate, player, son, friend, husband, father, and American: loyal, hard-working, selfless, caring, and loving,” former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel wrote on X . “Our hearts go out to the entire Mangold-Buckeye-Jet families. Love that man. We lost a great one.”
