Sunday night's primetime matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers might be particularly complicated and emotional for two groups of people. (And no, it's not because of the poor field conditions.)
That's because, after all these years, legendary former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is, yes, finally playing his first game against Green Bay. After a messy, high-profile breakup, Rodgers has actually not been a member of the Packers since the end of the 2022 season. But because both of Rodgers' stops since his Packers departure have been with AFC teams in the Steelers and Jets, the NFL's scheduling rules kept him from getting his "revenge" against Green Bay, an NFC team. The NFL typically limits interconference matchups, as they rotate on an annual basis with different divisions from the respective conferences.
Well, Rodgers is finally getting his opportunity against the Packers now. We'll see whether he's able to maximize it and victimize the Packers in a Steelers' win. Rodgers' feelings aside, I'm sure some Packers fans will be conflicted about trying to beat arguably the best quarterback in franchise history, too.
How long did Rodgers play for the Packers?
Rodgers was a member of the Packers for 18 seasons.
What kind of success did Rodgers have with the Packers?
As a member of the Packers, Rodgers was a 10-time Pro Bowler, a four-time First-Team All-Pro, and a four-time MVP. He led the organization to a win in Super Bowl 45, ironically over the Steelers, where he was also named Super Bowl MVP.
