Chris Davies says a slight injury to Demarai Gray meant that he wasn’t fit enough to start for Birmingham City against Bristol City.

Sinclair Armstrong netted the only goal of the game as the Robins inflicted a fourth defeat in seven away games on Blues.

Gray was one of five second half substitutes Davies made in an attempt to salvage something from the game.

“Demarai has just been struggling with a little bit of an injury since the (Preston) game,” Davies told BBC Radio WM. “He was a bit of a doubt for this match, whether he would even be able to make the bench. Thankfully he woke up and he was feeling better.”
