BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - With the spooky season fast approaching, The Furniture Gallery of Bangor gave families a fun way to participate ahead of Halloween night.

They did so with their 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat.

The free community event featured more than 30 trunks to get treats from, many of which represented local businesses or organizations, including the UMaine Men’s Basketball team.

“Trunk or Treat” is quickly becoming a popular alternative to trick or treating, especially in rural areas.

Instead of going door-to-door, participants get their candy from decorated cars, often in a parking lot.

Event organizers say that the community aspect is part of what makes trunk or treating such a hit.
