MUMBAI: As differences among Tata Trusts trustees spill out into the open, old Tata hand and Ratan Tata confidante Noshir Soonawala has broken his silence to say it is "painful to see what is happening at the Tatas, a group where I have dedicated almost my entire career". "I hope the trustees of Tata Trusts resolve their issues," Soonawala, former vice-chairman of Tata Sons and ex-trustee of Tata Trusts, told TOI.
The governance rift among trustees came into public view in mid-Sept, less than a year after the passing of former Tata Trusts chairman Ratan Tata. Soonawala, known to have been close not only to Ratan Tata but also to his younger half-brother and current Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata, and Noel's mother Simone Tata, said he now watches developments from the sidelines.
