Brian Kelly became the latest SEC coach to face the chopping block when he was fired on Oct. 26 , one day after an embarrassing 49-25 loss to Texas A&M., according to a report from ESPN.com's Pete Thamel.
Kelly joins Arkansas coach Sam Pittman and Florida football coach Billy Napier as the third SEC coach fired during the 2025 season. Napier was fired by the Florida Gators on Oct. 19 after posting a 22-23 record in three-plus years, the lowest winning percentage for a UF coach since Raymond "Bear" Wolf, who went 13-24-2 from 1946-49.
The 64-year-old Kelly left Notre Dame for LSU in 2022 and went 34-14 in three-and-a-half years with the school, failing to lead LSU to the College Football Playoff in his prior three seasons.
