NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Hurricane Melissa is currently 115-miles south-southwest of Kingston, Jamaica and 295-miles south-southwest of Guantanamo, Cuba with maximum sustained winds of 145-mph.
Its hurricane-force winds extend outward from the center up to 30-miles and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 205-miles.
The National Hurricane Center says that "Melissa is moving toward the west near 5-mph with a slow westward motion expected [for Sunday night], followed by a turn to the north and northeast on Monday and Tuesday."
The NHC forecasts that this hurricane will move near or over Jamaica on Tuesday, cross southern Cuba come Tuesday night then the southeastern Bahamas on Wednesday.
