LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Texas Tech Quarterback Will Hammond will miss the rest of the 2025 season with a torn ACL in his right knee, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Hammond made his second straight Big 12 start Saturday afternoon against Oklahoma State, but went out shortly before halftime due to a non-contact injury in the Red Raiders 42-0 victory over the Cowboys.
Third-string quarterback Mitch Griffis took over for Hammond and threw for 172 yards on 9-of-13 passing with two total touchdowns, including a one-yard rushing touchdown.
Head coach Joey McGuire stated after the game that Morton was considered available for the game in case of an emergency and is continuing to recover from his right leg injury which took place against Kansas. Morton was suited up as the emergency quarterbac
